Introduction
The Serenity Prayer, attributed to theologian Reinhold Niebuhr, is one of the most widely used and deeply practical prayers in the modern world. It profoundly addresses the human struggle with control. We often waste immense emotional energy trying to change circumstances, people, or past events that are completely out of our hands, while neglecting the areas where God has called us to take obedient action. This prayer is an anchor for sanity and peace. It distills complex theological truths into a daily operating principle: trusting God’s sovereignty over the uncontrollable, acting bravely in the realm of personal responsibility, and relying on the Holy Spirit for the wisdom to know the difference.

The Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time, enjoying one moment at a time, accepting hardship as a pathway to peace; taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; trusting that You will make all things right if I surrender to Your will; so that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with You forever in the next. Amen.
