Translation Policy

How we handle the original text and English translations.

Our Primary Translation: The KJV

The full text of the Bible on BibleApply is currently provided in the King James Version (KJV). We utilize the KJV for our core biblical database because it is deeply respected, historically significant, and firmly in the public domain globally.

Modern Paraphrases

While the raw biblical text uses the KJV, our articles, verse meanings, and topic guides often paraphrase verses into modern English to ensure accessibility. When we do this, we are carefully translating the meaning from the original languages for clarity.

Original Languages

Translation is always interpretation. Therefore, our writers frequently consult the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek texts. In our deep-dive articles, we will explicitly highlight the original words (like agape or shalom) to uncover nuances lost in English translation.

Future Translations

We are actively working on licensing agreements to bring modern translations (such as the ESV, NIV, and CSB) to our Bible reading interface. Our goal is to allow users to seamlessly switch between translations while reading the text.
