Prayer for Anxiety

A prayer to calm an anxious mind by focusing on God's sovereignty and care.

Prayer for Anxiety

Introduction

Anxiety can act like a heavy fog, obscuring our vision of God’s goodness and amplifying our fears of the unknown. When worry begins to spiral, it is crucial to intentionally redirect our thoughts toward the steadfast character of God. This prayer is designed to help you release your tight grip on the things you cannot control and hand them over to the One who sustains the universe. By articulating your fears to God and recalling His promises, you actively resist the paralysis of anxiety. This spiritual discipline does not always instantly remove the feelings of stress, but it roots your mind in the ultimate reality that you are deeply loved, securely held, and never abandoned by your Heavenly Father.

The Prayer

Sovereign Lord, my mind is currently racing, and my heart feels heavy with worry. The weight of my anxieties threatens to overwhelm me, and I confess that I have lost sight of Your steady hand. Right now, I choose to cast all my cares upon You, knowing that You care for me deeply. Calm the storm within my soul with the whisper of Your Spirit. Remind me that You are already in my tomorrows, preparing the way, and that nothing I face is beyond Your providence. Give me the strength to focus only on what You have called me to do today, leaving the rest in Your capable hands. Replace my fearful thoughts with the truth of Your Word. Guard my mind with Your peace, which transcends human logic, and help me to rest securely in the shadow of Your wings. In the calming name of Jesus, Amen.
